Stricker designates $46,000 Presidents Cup proceeds to VSA arts of Wisconsin
PGA
Tour golfer Steve Stricker named VSA arts of Wisconsin as
his designee to receive charitable proceeds from his participation in
the 2007 Presidents Cup: a $46,000
contribution!
The Presidents Cup is a unique golf event in
that there is no purse or prize money. Players are not personally paid for
their participation, but each competitor is allowed to allocate funds to
chosen charitable causes. Stricker chose VSA arts of Wisconsin to
receive a contribution; a check for $46,000 arrived
at the VSA office in Madison in December.
More than $4.2 million is being distributed to
charitable causes from the 2007 Presidents Cup, a record for this prestigious
competition and part of the nearly $18 million raised since the inception
of the event.
"Our whole staff was overwhelmed when
we received that check from the Presidents Cup!" said Kathie
Wagner, president of VSA
arts of Wisconsin. "We are truly humbled by Steve's continuing
generosity toward our organization. Even with the increasing demands on his
time, we are very appreciative that he
continues
to be a champion for
VSA. It is clear that he has a deep interest in ensuring
quality programming in the arts for individuals with disabilities."
